Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Good conclusion to the Citadel Trilogy this week, though you did wonder how they were going to fit all the action necessary to wrap it up into one episode, what with a fleet battle in space and the continuing escape and pursuit on the surface, but it worked and didn't feel as rushed as I thought it might. Also a nice touch with a key character meeting his maker, explaining why he doesn't appear in Episode III. I also liked the way tension between Palpatine and the Jedi is becoming worse as time goes on, with the Chancellor specifically commanding Tarkin to deliver the intel directly to him rather than the Jedi. Obviously as I suggested earlier this'll be how the Separatists gain access to the intel which allows them to attack Coruscant in the opening scenes of Episode III. Very good set of episodes, really looking forward to what they pull out of the bag to top it for the series finale, the big hairy walking carpet being introduced should help.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

I guess you were right about the secret information they were carrying, such as the routes directly to Coruscant and other Republic worlds.

Anyway, episode 21 of season three:
I like the setting. Felucia is always a nice world to look at but again Im not sure at which point in the timeline we are supposed to be at since we are returning to Felucia again. I guess this episode stands somewhere at the ROTS side of the timeline due to "older" character models being used.

Plo's super force jump gave me a horrible, horrible flashback to the cartoon CW series.. oh fooey!

And am I the only one who caught tremendous Predator vibes out of those Transdoshans? I loved it. Only wished Bossk would have been there too.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Holy crap! The teaser for Season 4 shows a Gungan warrior (is that Cpt. Tarpals?!) besting Grievous in a duel and... do I spy a Z-95 Headhunter?! I do believe so! Looks like Season 4 is gonna' be EEEEEEE-PIC. lol cool

Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Now you Yanks have finally seen the finale we can now talk about it I guess. I like that it was a more intimate story, usually the finales climax with big battles that pull out all the stops, but here they managed to do that in a different way, creating a fantastic two parter with so much action (though on a smaller scale), cool references and a plethora of crowd pleasing moments. The Trandoshan Hunters going all Predator on everyone's arse was a master stroke. Surprised it has not been done before, and there is lots of fun to be had trying to identify all the bizarre trophies scattered around the Hunting Lodge. Another cool thing was just how dense and detailed the jungle moon environment was, was really beautiful, and this was after already showing Felucia at night which looks just breathtaking.

Then there was the fact that we're seeing more development in Ahsoka's character, showing her growing up and being able to handle herself even without Anakin at her side, and once again with the final face off with the Trandoshan leader showing her darker side.

And all this is before we even consider the big draw of the finale, the introduction of Chewbacca to The Clone Wars. I have to say it doesn't disappoint. The animation looks spot on, they've really captured the look and feel of that old Wookiee, and he also gets a classic little E.T. style moment, just one of the many cool pop culture references in there.

Basically, job's a good 'un. A very fitting finale to series 3.

cool

And now there's the Series 4 preview. Some seriously cool stuff happening there, Mon Calamari warriors in an underwater battle which brings to mind the original 2D animated Clone Wars TV series. Is that the future Admiral Ackbar we spy? Grevious vs a Gungan?! As Mechag2 rightly observes, with Grevious getting his butt handed to him?! Clone Troopers now fully converted to the Mk.II armour, and a Headhunter? Hard to say, all a bit of a blur and very close to the camera, but it could be. Bring on the Autumn I say.

lol

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Hmmmm, check out this:

http://www.starwars.com/video/view/001247.html

It is the WonderCon Season 4 Clone Wars preview. Shows you a bit more than the first one we saw. You see a little more of those ships that we thought might be Headhunters, now that we can see them a little clearer they look more like ARC-170s to be honest. They only have one engine either side of the hull rather than the 4 in total that the Z-95s should have (unless you go with Brand-X's redesign, which given the choice I would do. Wouldn't that be the ultimate coup? To have one of your redesigns taken on as canon? tongue). That said, the hull shape doesn't look quite right for an ARC-170, with a round structure just behind the cockpit that is quite reminiscent of the original Headhunter design. Also the nose doesn't look quite right, but the engines and wings scream out ARC-170. Perhaps it is some customised version of the fighter for some special type of duty or something? The jury's still out on this one I think.

[EDIT:]
Heh, now I've gone back to the original trailer and froze frame on that cockpit shot and hump behind it is definitely looking more Z-95 like, it is pretty much unmistakable, but it looks like they've made design decisions to make it more in keeping with the ARC-170, there are even elements of the cockpit design which look a little like that of the V-Wing. If it is meant to be a Headhunter it is funny how they've made changes almost indentical to those that Brand-X made with his recent redesign of the ship, it is almost uncanny, but there are things that he's got rid of such as that aforementioned hump that are very much visible here, but the twin engine change is a quite distinctive design decision made in both cases here. I'm sure Brand-X will be quite chuffed to bits if the definitive model of the Headhunter becomes a design so close to his redesign. Know I would be.

cool

In other areas it is all looking rather wet, some more sub aquatic action, Gungans, Mon Calamari, Quarren, Kit Fisto, and some new Jedi from the same species as Jettster Dexter from Episode II (a Besalisk) posing in the rain, so yes the theme of the season appears to be fairly damp.

Oh, and something else which we saw briefly in the first trailer which were a squad of fairly spindly crystaline looking curvy fighters (seen chasing the ARC-170/Z-95s) These are a new one on me, possibly EU in origin? Look worryingly like the design for the Andromeda Ascendant, but lets not go there.

Pretty cool interview with Dave Filoni regarding the Clone Wars and a few titbits about season 4.
