Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Heh, and then as if to validate my prediction this appears on the SFX homepage:

http://www.sfx.co.uk/2012/02/25/darth-m … s-trailer/

Knew this was on the cards, looking good, though most of that trailer features footage from this week's Nightsisters episode 'Massacre'. Interesting that they got Sam Witwer to play Maul, would have thought they would attempt to get a hold of the original voice Peter Serafinowicz, but I guess he only did a few lines in Episode 1, and with this it looks like they're going for some real twisted crap for what he's been through during 10 years of exile, not sure if I liked Witwer in the role at first, but it could grow on me. He's certainly done the Sith angst thing and then some as Starkiller in the Force Unleashed games.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Wait... Isn't Darth Maul cut in two and dead?

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

They're going with the premise that he's been kept alive by the Dark Side of the Force and his hatred. Which is not so totally far fetched for the Star Wars universe. After all Anakin gets burnt to a crisp by lava and still survives. With Darth Maul the wound would have been cauterised by the lightsaber strike so he wouldn't bleed out, as long as vital organs weren't hit he could possibly survive.

Basically this will be in part at least inspired by the EU story where Darth Maul comes back as a cyborg with robotic lower half which looked pretty cool. Obviously it is also influenced by the fact Episode 1 is on at the cinema. If handled right it could be pretty cool, if a little pandering to the fans who feel Maul was a classic villain wasted by killing him off too soon. If they do a good job with it this could be a classic series finale. We'll see I guess.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Well then, as long as they don't ruin his character as they ruined Revan's story, I have no qualms with it.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Yeah, that's the fear isn't it? That they take a character that was cool and left the fans wanting more, and then on expanding that character only go and bugger it up. Hopefully they'll approach the character with the respect it deserves and positively build on the character rather than doing anything to damage it.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

You know, I think I might start watching this series. At first I hated it, and heard more bad reviews from you guys than good, but it seems like recently the episodes are getting better overall, based on what I've heard from you.

The main reason of my hate was because the Clone Wars was just being used way too much, leaving the Galactic Civil War in a dark corner.
