Have watched the first two episodes, both were okay, but there seems a little inconsistency with the portrayal of the power of the Sith brothers Maul & Savage depending on what the plot needs. In previous episodes we've seen them cut through waves of troops like they were nothing, and yet here when the plot needed it they are both routed by a gang of pirates. Though I suppose one of them was wounded, and when they're cutting through waves of enemy they usually have a little back up in the form of Battledroids to cause distraction as they focus on the destruction part, so maybe there is not as much inconsistency as I believe when you consider the numbers they were battling against.
There was also a shock death of a fairly important Jedi which I didn't see coming (well we know she dies at some point as she doesn't appear in ROTS, but still, a surprise when it happens). Then that got buggered up by a continuity error where that Jedi appears on the Jedi Council scene in the next episode. I guess these episodes aren't meant to be running in chronological order then?
The second episode was interesting, but felt like more set up for what is to come than a fully interesting episode in and of itself. Nice touches here are that we're seeing the first sparks of the Rebellion in the form of the Onderon Insurgents, white helmets and everything. Also a few political undertones with non too subtle commentary on US foreign policy with the Jedi debating on whether or not to fund and train these insurgents in their struggle against their planet's government who have fallen in with the Separatists. Also some interesting development with Ahsoka as she meets Bonteri again only to find he has another love interest. Oh, the teenage angst! At least she gets to show her maturity in helping to train these proto-Rebels. I guess the angst angle is to show the two sides of her. How she has matured as a Jedi, but still has the emotions of a young teen and is inexperienced in dealing with stuff like love since she has had no training in that sort of thing being a Jedi and all.
So nothing truly dazzling yet in these first two episodes, but it does look like we're getting the set up for some cracking action as the season develops.
