Re: Singleplayer update

Thanks mechag2.   I would be remiss if I took all the credit.   I have had a lot of help along the way.    Twigs figured out how to have the capital ships auto pilot and helped out a lot by testing and tweaking.   Clivewil from BFSP and AIX created the AImesh for the Imp Fort, while Frank Beans updated the AI support for some of the maps.

I am finalizing the Imp handweapons.   Unfortunately, I had to use the pistol slot in some kits in order to add the alternate weapon as a secondary.  I really hate that because First Strike has such a wide variety.   right now there are only two varieties of singleplayer kits, one for Infantry maps and one for vehicle maps.    I am thinking about creating a larger variety of the kits down the road,  so the other pistols can still be used.

The deployable guns will now be automated and added to one of the first 4 kits so that the bots can use it.

Thanks for selflessly and humbly saving all of our beloved mods one by one over the years Dnamro.

Re: Singleplayer update

Thanks Buddy!

Bots repair, heal, and resupply now, with revive ability toned down.   ATAT is in FSX Hoth Outpost.   Did some more tweaking to the kits.   Just need to do some clean up and some more testing and will be ready to release a beta.

Re: Singleplayer update

I am changing up the FSX Hoth Outpost to make 16 player and 32 player modes dogfighting only.   16 will have the classic Hoth snowspeeders vs Ties, while 32 will add X-wings and Tie Interceptors in the mix for some variety.

The 48 and 64 modes will have player only controlled ATATs, as the version of the ATAT is only Beta there would be a number of issues with having bots use the ATAT.     The main battle will be with ATSTs attacking the trenches.   48 will have snowspeeders air support, while 64 will have snowspeeder and X_wings.

The trench turrets are fully automated, will scan 360 degrees until a target is in range and really help to give the feel of an intense battle in the trenches.

The map could still use some balancing.  More turrets may need to be added as they are eventually overwhelmed by the ATST attack.  The rebels also have no anti-air support.   The turrets currently are not fast enough to work in that role.   I was able to set up the ATSTs to provide decent anti-air defense, so don't make the mistake of trying to take them out head on.  Anyway, I am not going to spend time balancing as this map is mainly for fun to try out the Hoth vehicles and weapons that were never officially released.

One other thing, I have set up the snow speeder rear gunner as automated only, so players or bots can not user it.   This is a limitation of making vehicle gunner positions automated.   I think the benefits outweigh the limitations.

Re: Singleplayer update

Guys,

I am on track to release by the end of the month.  I was able to get a few extra things fixed up.   I have the bots using melee handweapons decently now, so that is back in.   The melee handweapons are more powerful so it's one hit one kill with them now.  This makes them much more useful and deadly in the hands of bots, as well as stopping the silly long melee fights going with bots.

All handweapons will be unlocked (no squad locks) to make them easier to use and work better with the AI.

The deployable stationary guns (Eweb/MKII) will be automated like the BF2142 sentry guns and moved to the support generator position.   This will allow the bots to use them and make them more fun for singleplayer use.

I also did some clean up tasks, such as redoing the preview and load screens for some of the FSX maps.

Re: Singleplayer update

Sounds fantastic! I can't wait to give this a go.
