Topic: Vehicle Spawning

There are a couple things in battleifeld that have always bugged me. One of the big ones is the way vehicles spawn. They just appear. Kind of sucks you out of the realism factor of the game. So I was just wondering if theres any ideas on changing that. I mean, the 1.3 patch has introduced air dropped vehicles deployed by the commander. I was wondering if there might be a way of automating a similar system for just general vehicle spawning. I have a couple ideas on the matter, none of which are likely possible of course.
Couldn't you use a uav style vehicle, a drop ship, that could fly down on scripted courses and drop vehicles on spawn positions? Or how about instead of dropships, the equivelant for ground transports towing the vehicles down roads until they reach the drop point. Might actually be cool for a supply lines style game mode. Like if you have 3 bases on a road, and the one in the middle gets captured, the far base on the end wont be able to get vehicle shipments by road. I'm just throwing out ideas.
How about if none of thats possible, garage doors that close after the vehicle exits their interiors, then open when a new vehicle spawns inside them. Same would work for hangar bays.
I know its not really important, and would be a hassle to do anything about. I'm just probing to see if anyone had any ideas on the matter. So....do you? hmm

I really like the garage door idea. Unfortunatly, what I know of Echo Base is that there were more cut outs in the wall than individual garages. Infact, Star Wars is kind of open when it comes to utilizing space for supplies and storage. I think the supply line may be abit more for what the engine can handle, but I don't know. I like it though.

Could the respawn be animated? Say it takes a snowspeeder 10 seconds for it to respawn. In those 10 seconds instead of the respawn area being empty, it shows a snowspeeder slowly being reconstructed. It starts out as a frame, then with armor, then weapons and defenses are added, until the 10 seconds are up and a speeder respawns.

Yeah tha would be cool

will like the small frigates respawn in space battles? maybe you could have it like come through hyperspace that would be sweet

Now that you mention it that would be cool. Making a ship 'appear' from hyperspace would probally be among the easiest things discussed. Probally. I'd think you could just make it accelerate from teh edge of the map really quick, then come to a sudden stop. Though I'm not sure if anything bigger than a fighter will actually be respawning, in GC they where one use vessels. I think.

i like the construction idea. but problem is it causes ALOT of work.. IF its possible. model direction = about 5 models in each stage. an image.. which would make it flat would take just as long and wont look as good.

the hyperspace idea is something that would be very easy to impliment i think..
