Topic: Interview Questions to the Development Team.
Hello, I am new to this game and to this forum, but of course the first thing that struck my mind seeing this mod, and I'm quite sure many others, were the direct relation to it, and the Prolific Games BF1942 modification "Galactic Conquest." The questions I wanted to ask were too numberous, and it seems the development team is involved with the forums so I decided why not, why not ask them a few questions to keep them on their toes, and maybe even have cause to purchase BF2142.
1. Obviously, the question most pressing on my mind, and I'm quite sure many other familiar with Star Wars previous connection to the Battlefield 1942 title, which undoubtly lead to the subsequent release of the Lucas Arts Battlefront I & II games. Was the "Galactic Conquest" game an inspiration to carry it on to a more advanced engine?
2. Has your team had any relations with Prolific Games to help you out over some hurdles?
3. Will the game be familiar to previous Galatic Conquest players?
4. Will there be space battles, and if so, how will you handle it? Will it be an arcade style of flying, or a more, Newtonic way of flight control?
5. Do you have any mod-specific neat idea's to add to the squad system?
6. Is there any fear at all that Battlefield 2142 might just turn out like Battlefield:Vietnam? It's almost dead and unheard of now, there were even mods that jumped the BF1942 train and switched to Vietnam claiming "it going to offer so many new more features and coding options." When in fact it turned out to be a disaster, so much so, the ingame A.I. had no idea to fly a helicopter. So is there kind of a gamble feeling going with the BF2142 engine?
7. Last question, the Prolific Games development team had many obstacles with the engine, and EA has proven time and again, it's only in the gaming industry to make money, and if it isn't making money, no matter how much people want something, they try to make it "seem" like they appease the mod teams out there, but it seems to be smokes and mirrors. There have even been mod teams who switch platforms entirely, take the BF1942:Empires team for instance, they switched to the Source Engine developed by VALVe and are now on their 1.7 beta release and there is never moans and groans over the engines capibilities, because it preforms if you change it right, and there is full access to its SDK. Has there ever been simple things that your team is incapible of changing, no matter how simple, because the engine won't allow it? Do you think it's something you for see EA ever changing? And do you ever feel like your OBLIGATED to stay on the engine because of how much work you've put into your mod?
