Re: Lock on Lasers.

Yeah that should be possible, considering that BF2 already is capable of confirming missile locks for both the shooter and the shootee.

Re: Lock on Lasers.

science bit here: lasers are made of higly concentrated light. you cant guide them once fired (unles you have remote mirrors).
now rockets can be guided.
its like canadiens sad: it just tells you the optimal time to fire.

/me looks at his irl models and doenst find a moveable laser turret

Re: Lock on Lasers.

Then you should look at the a wing again, which would be the perfect host for this idea.

Re: Lock on Lasers.

i dont believe they ever had guided lasers in star wars.
the only thing that springs to mind with this whole homing idea is with darth vaders ship and his targetting computer which directs the actual barrel to aim at the ship not the laser once shot.

apon reading the topic i see this has already been covered. and my oppinion is that beginner pilots shouldnt have it easy and get mowed down quickly tongue

Re: Lock on Lasers.

Personally I wasn't talking about a guided laser bolt. If you look at the sequence when Darth Vader is following the X-Wings, his twin cannons move slightly to the left and right a few degrees to get an optimal lock-on.

Re: Lock on Lasers.

The a wings cannons are mounted on verticle turrets, and can swivel up and down. I think the lock on thing would be a great way to control that.

Re: Lock on Lasers.

Why do people think the whole idea is lasers that zoom around like a heat guided missile? Do they not read? lol... What I am trying to say is have the lasers sorta lock on fire STRIAGHT towards the other ship but NEVER change course again, so they still shoot different directions, but they DO NOT follow.
