Oh no, you can do just about anything with the right game engine, however, the BF:2 engine is built in a manner that makes a lot of things very hard to do, like space maps and custom skeletons. The BF:2142 engine was improved in that it allows custom skeletons, but only for PCOs (Player Controlled Objects) such as the battle walkers, and in our case it allows us to make convincing ATSTs and ATATs.
The custom skeletons don't apply to infantry models because the physics governing infantry, and the animation system are built so rigidly that we would basicly have to recode the engine to allow for shorter (ewok) or taller (wookie) player models. And because we don't have access to the source code, that would be next to impossible. However, we may have some work arounds to play with, but we will let you know the progress on this issues as it progresses
