Re: Look Ma, No Hands!

How about two entire FP view models of the Speederbike? One for the Imps with Black gloves, white armour etc, and one for the Rebs with brown gloves, or whatever you want to detail the Reb rider with?

Re: Look Ma, No Hands!

Why not put the perspective a little higher, then in Mouse-look mode when you look down you can see the controls and only the tips and tops of your gloves which could be the same for rebs and imps?

Re: Look Ma, No Hands!

wasn't this possible in 42??? I'm confused about how they could screw THAT up while moving up in the series

Aye, that could work.

You know I'm trying to remember if they did or not? It's been quite a while since I last played  BF 1942, but now I come to think of it, I think that the bike and sidecar FP view model in that game did just have the handlebars, though they did move relative to which way you were steering the bike there were no hands. So they got away with it back then, but I think it's something they should have really implemented properly by now, I mean Rally/Racing games, Motorcycle Racing games and the like have had hands on the handlebars/steering wheels for years now. I guess the BF team have just managed to avoid the need since the original game and have just not bothered.

But I do think if the FS team are really gonna aim for the highest realism they can get for this mod, they're gonna have to find someway to get hands in there for the Speederbike's FP view. It would be really great if they could get some functionality in there too, like slamming the handlebars forward if you slam the airbrakes on, moving them slightly when you turn right and left with a bit of a tilt in the bike as well, and maybe even an idle where one hand drops down to the dashboard panel to adjust the controls, but I'm just going crazy now.

lol

I dont think theres a way for the engine to know which faction is using the vehicle. Tho im no coder.

It is possible to know what team is in the vehicle, but it is not possible to change the model, given this knowledge.

BF1942 DID support it, as did BFV.  BF2 and BF2142 do not (at least, not that we know how to do at this point).  It's one of those "wish list" items that DICE will probably never give mod teams.

Much to learn, you still have.

Re: Look Ma, No Hands!

If you play POE2, they have jeeps with a front passenger seat. I looked over at the driver and he had his hands on the wheel, but never turned it. This was quite amazing as he still managed to turn the vehicle.
