Topic: Roquan - Mattes' 3dMax Obsession

This is the project I sent to the FirstStrike team in order to join as a modeller. And every once in a while I'll pick it up again and start poking a stick at it. I think I'm at a point now (v.31) where I'm convincing myself it's as good as it's going to get and start touching up the minor details like adding LIFE to the city.

BTW, anyone have experience with NPCs in Oblivion's CS? smile

Version .1 - Trying to get the style of the architecture...

Version .11 - Most all of the major buildings are made...

Version .2 - Messed with the ground textures, put in some plant life, also the introduction to Shuces (individual homes)...

Version .22 - Played around with the idea of a harbor, added doors and windows to some buildings...

Version .3 - Collision Meshes! Finally, hehe. Also worked on the final grading of the city...

Version .31 - Added some cliffs to break up the horrible mountain mesh and add a little volume to the elevation. Also added some trees to give a little more ambience.

Re: Roquan - Mattes' 3dMax Obsession

This isn't 3d Max, it's claymation and paper machei.

And thanks Xero. You make me blush. In a manly 3d modeller sort of way... yknow...

Re: Roquan - Mattes' 3dMax Obsession

Only stuff I did in Oblivion is the first "quickstart" mod and putting magic making and enchanting alters in all the mage guilds...

Re: Roquan - Mattes' 3dMax Obsession

I started "modding" like 2 weeks after release. (Why 2 weeks? Well I was playing the main quest of course tongue ) So there wasn't a whole lot (close to none) of documentation on HOW to mod. A lot of this was trial by error and figuring things out myself. The community tried to make the Taj Mahal from toothpicks and tree sap... MacGyver Theory.

We're pretty close to getting everything down. Started with importing custom textures, then meshes, then collision meshes (for a while we had to place boxes and shape them to our object), then finally animations. Oh, and there were animated textures somewhere between that... That's something I plan on tackling next if I want to make custom waterfalls and fountains.
