Re: First Strike article on Wookiepedia nominated for deletion

It's not worth arguing, and will only damage the mod in the long run if you do.  Why? Because there will be members that'll act with nothing but spite if we do put them in their place on the matter, and try to hurt us any way they can.  The mod, at this crucial stage, does not need that kind of thing.

As such I'd say abandon it and just look forward to being published in much more grand areas, such as www.lucasfiles.com, magazines, the internet, and television.  And after we do release and we are a hit with star-wars fans we can post another article on there exclaiming that they are not allowed to publish any information about us smile

Re: First Strike article on Wookiepedia nominated for deletion

Woodrow is probably right. The article is clearly notable, but I don't think there's any way it'll stay, regardlessly.

Sooo, I've moved it to Wikipedia. Here we go. Wiki article! Seems to fulfill all four notability requirements, not to mention that there are already articles for other mods on the Wiki, so this shouldn't be much of a problem. Not to mention that Wikipedians tend to be intelligent people.

Re: First Strike article on Wookiepedia nominated for deletion

Well if all it takes is 6 deletion votes to get that article removed then their system is corrupt. Im sure the number of people that use that for reference far outweighs a couple of people that want it removed because it "insulted" them or somthing (their reasons were things like: "I don't like mods." well what if I don't like Bothans, I wont delete the bothan article just for that.) however, once this mod is published and well known, there is nothing they will be able to do to remove the article, and they will have to apologize if they have any integrity. Then they will know they were wrong.

Until the GC article is deleted, then they have no right to delete the FS article.

There is some idiotic two line article about a TV set being used by the sith in episode 3, please remove that one. lol

Re: First Strike article on Wookiepedia nominated for deletion

Anyone got suggestions on sources for the article? I suppose news bulletins on the mod will work, at least better than the YouTube and forum ones I resort to currently.

Re: First Strike article on Wookiepedia nominated for deletion

Helle there
First of all i have to excuse for my very basic english..

As i saw this 'news' i just felt to register and to tell you, that i am a great fan already of this mod and i really appreciate the work you all are doing to realize this.

Me and my friends loved the Galactic Conquest mod, especially the fact, that it wasnt focused on Jedi at all, so we could slip into 'a common soldiers life' as a storm trooper, rebel pilot and so on.

We played it for hours and days...non stop...enjoying all the details and the superb atmosphere it managed to create. In my opinion it was one of the greatest SW-games i ever played, besides SWG (pre NGE) and good old 'Tie-Fighter'.

As i discouvered 'First Strike' i nearly jumped of my chair (at work^^), told my friends and now we cant wait to see this mod to be released. But rest assured....it may take as long as GC...but i support your decision to release good work rather that rush.

However, i am quite shocked by this 'delete'/'keep' vote on Wookiepedia, which i cant follow. Hopefully it does not demotivate you to continue with 'First Strike'.

The model you presenting on your hp are very very good, textures are detailed and ....the speederbike vid just proofs you all love SW and know, what you are doing.

At last i want to mention that i am a modeler and texture artist myself, having studied at the 'Games Academy' in Berlin after having played thousands of games sice 'Maniac Mansion', and now working for the great german aviation company with this blue bird on the yellow circle on ground as a database-landscape modeler for flight simulation training. Saying this to give my judgement about your work a bit of worth...hopefully smile

I would love to give you a hand...but as i know that i can not afford much of my spare time (in which i still like to play..for a change smile, i just want to give you this 'heads up' and my full respect for your enthusiasm.

smile
