Well... thats how it would go in real world too actually... smile See water is not hard enough for resistance. Just had to point out smile It's all physics big_smile

This guy thinks otherwise tongue

OOh!  Whats that?  a Hover-Craft !    Amazing!

I bet if it turned the motors off if would float too, or is there not enough resistance in water..and it will sink like a boat?
LOL!

Do..or do not, there is no try !

Re: PAY TO PLAY?

I bet the same thing happens with a hover tank..

Re: PAY TO PLAY?

Wow, this topic went off track real quick. Anyway, just to help keep it off track...

tongue

That Hovercraft isn't exactly the same thing as the Hovertanks in BF2142 now is it? The hovercraft uses a cushion of compressed air within the skirt to keep it afloat and propel it across land or sea with relative ease, forgive any innacuracies in my real world science, couldn't be arsed to go and grab some indepth technical specs on how a real hovercraft works, but you get the general idea.

wink

Anyhow, the Hovertanks in BF2142 are a totally different animal using some sort of electromagnetic forcefield to levitate the vehicle above the ground. Now it could be that this forcefield requires an equal force to push against to levitate it's load, if this is the case then it may well sink if there isn't a solid enough mass beneath it to sustain floatation, such as water. Then again this could all be completely hamster furballs as the tech doesn't actually exist yet (Or does it? wink) and anything said can only be speculation based on the laws of physics as we know them.

Heh, you gotta love hamster fur balls haven't ya?

lol

Re: PAY TO PLAY?

As far as I'm concerned the 2142 tank uses sparkly glowy lights tongue

It doesn't exist yet so you can't really say anything about it really I think, so we're going by the lore of 2142, if they say it can it can otherwise it can't smile

Re: PAY TO PLAY?

It uses midget invisibility technology, they bred a race of super dwarf people, who can run rast, are very coordinated, very strong and can communicate with the control that the pilot inputs, which is transferred to them below the tank and they know where to carry it... The reason it does not go over water is because the dwarfs do not have dang powers, yet. So thats why you sink, and the tank explodes because the dwarfs are trained to not let their tanks fall into enemy hands.
