Re: Some thoughts regarding space...

Yes, yes, yes, if I remember correctly it should be about 1 X-Wing to every 3 TIE Fighters for an even match if you're going by X-Wing (games) or the X-Wing series of books, which were absolutely based on the X-Wing series of games.  Go back and read the first book in the X-Wing series.  There are passages where they talk about shifting power around from engines/lasers/shields, the aiming reticle lighting up, it could be the manual for the X-Wing series.

That said, I think the balance in FS is pretty damn good, and I like it so there tongue

This is the Battlefield series of games, which has always gone with a rock-paper-scissors mentality.  As of now, FS is balancing individual fighter against one another.

Re: Some thoughts regarding space...

Well the falcon obviously would have been performing evasive manuvers, therefore going slower than max speed, a stationary target would have been pretty easy to hit for any gunning crew either on the death star, or for the tie fighters chasing them. Also the falcon couldn't have been up to speed yet, a yt 1300, even a heavily modified one isn't going to have near the acceleration as a tie fighter, its just to big.  And sure luke wanted to outrun them if he could, he would need to go faster than the ties to do that though, which he couldn't since they have the same top speed tongue and even if he did, the tie advanced is faster than an x wing, so darth vader would have stayed on him.

Re: Some thoughts regarding space...

Oh don't get me wrong, i love the game and i know there has to be ballance.  Just bringing up some of these things since i know you guys are going for as lore acurate as possible (and doing a very nice job i might add), i love being able to fire and fight with all the weapons iv only been able to read about until now.  Just going for a bit of constructive/informative criticism. And speaking of shifting power... i posted about that in my topic "shields?".

Re: Some thoughts regarding space...

lol, i figured as much about the shields, just thought id ask.  And yeah, im not into random arguements either, just wanted to try and disperse the myth about tie fighters being faster than x wings. Which btw i did go and watch all those scenes in the movie, and i stand by all my previous arguements, along with the games and books which both support x wings and tie fighters being the same speed smile And btw sry for the way my first post sounded, i read it again and it did sound kind of attacking, didn't mean it that way, just the way you put it made it sound like a tie should be able to take an x wing 1v1.

Re: Some thoughts regarding space...

according to the starwars wiki and database the speed of a tie: Maximum acceleration  4,100 G
and the speed of the T-65 X-wing starfighter: Maximum acceleration  3,700 G
so the myth aint no myth, its common fact.
there, that enof lore for you lot? the discussion about its speed hasbeen done already at the wiki, trust me
