Very true vreki, although that just isn't very practical for the game or movies as im sure you realize tongue.

Of course smile
As far as I can see, Star Wars is basically WWII combat.
That doesn't bother me at all, the original trilogy never pretended to be anything more.

As for the stats, I have always believed that "Lucas Makes It Up As He Goes Along" wink
It don't think those numbers existed when the movies were made.

Re: Some thoughts regarding space...

I don't believe in hard stats. It's more like 'X-Wings fly pretty fast, TIE Fighters faster, TIE Interceptors even fast, B-Wings are pretty slow' and so on.

1. Its a spam fest. There is absolutely no reason to let go of the fire button. Implement overheating.

2. Remove the cheat HUD. It turns into a game of who gets bored of circling first, as you're always aware exactly of where the enemy is due to the convenient little symbol+arrow on your HUD. This shouldn't be here. The brackets around enemy can stay, but the arrow must go.

3. The hit boxes are completely broken. The only area that registers a hit is dead center back/front. Hitting the sides yields absolutely no results. Either remove the sides of aircraft completely or fix the hit boxes. It just looks silly.

4. Implement a health bar for capital ships. As it stands, there is absolutely no incentive for strafing capital ships/transports as no one on your team knows how much health is left. Why should I spend half the round bombing it when one guy at the end gets lucky and racks up those 3 points? Lets see the health.

5. This isn't a problem as of now, as the hitboxes are broken, but when/if they are fixed - I don't see how aircraft with thin silhouettes will be balanced against those with fat ones? What good is some more armor on that X-Wing when its pie is 10 times the size of a Tie-Fighter? The Fighter will own it every time. Bit of a dilemma here.

I'll make my own response to this...
1. Yes, there is a reason to let go. If you don't constantly fire, your target might not notice you're behind him. Only fire when you've got a clear shot and he won't struggle as much.

2. No. It's essential to navigating in space.

3. The others explained this one already.

4. I agree here. It would be good to see a health bar on the capital ships.

5. The B-wing's thinness is what makes it such a good ship. No need to "fix" that.

Re: Some thoughts regarding space...

Once again, correct vreki, those numbers didn't exist when the movie was made.  First time hard stats show up on that sort of thing was the x wing series, and the x wing books that go along with them (and i do think hard stats have to exist keeper, numbers have to be put into the program, computers cant translate fast, faster and fastest very well). But that is the only lore we have to go off of, as the movies don't provide any hard evidence either way.  I mean, i don't have a problem with the ties being faster in the game necesarily (since gameplay in this case is more important than lore), but its not accurate from any available lore. Ultimatly i was simply wondering wheter it would be possible, or maybe even had already been tested, with the x wings as powerful as they should be, against a larger number of imperial fighters.

In addition to what JeRK just said above, there is also the fact that the blaster bolts can be seen from litterally kilometers away, while a little silhouette is harder to catch, even when bracketed.

4. Implement a health bar for capital ships. As it stands, there is absolutely no incentive for strafing capital ships/transports as no one on your team knows how much health is left. Two words: Team game.

I remember how hard the A-Wing was to kill in GC - not just because it was fast and agile as Heck, but also because it was so tiny. I feel your pain.

Wow. You actually pissed me off with that post. The devs worked hard on this mod and you just complain about it. Remember that this is the first release. Yes I do relize that this is constructive critisism but you didn't even comment on it. All you have done here is pointed out is that you can't hit other fighters in space and that unfixable things are broken.

The following sentence is true. The previous sentence is false.
