Re: More infantry, less space battles.

I just use a keyboard and mouse on space maps and I love it! Reminds me of the old Xwing vs Tiefighter game.

But I do think that there should be like a 2:1 ratio of land to space maps. 2 land for every 1 space. Just my 2 cents.

Re: More infantry, less space battles.

It's just a matter of taste. When it comes down to it, space is just another setting like jungle, city, desert, snowy wastes, and so on. I'm currently semi-addicted to Project Reality, and I quit the server whenever it gets to a city map. Not because there's anything wrong with them, but because street fighting is too chaotic, hectic and fast-paced for me, and I prefer the open expanses of desert where I can see what's going on. Jungles and forests come in second popularity-wise, as long as they're not maps where the whole place is covered by dense woods. Then I lose overview (and interest) very fast. I'm still hoping I'll enjoy Endor.

I think space battles can't be fun for people who don't have joysticks. There's a really obvious difference in the KDR of Joystick users and Mouse/keyboard users. I have an X52, so space is awesome for me.

Using a joystick in BF2/2142 is like driving to the grocery store in a Porsche....complete overkill for such a simple and arcadey game.

I use (and always have used) a mouse for helo's/aircraft, and my KDR is fine. On the other hand, I bought a Saitek X-52 , put about 12 hours into configing and playing with it, and its now gathering dust. Great for hardcore sims like Lock-On: Modern Air Combat, useless for FPS'es.

Actually it's far harder to fly a fighter in Project Reality than in Falcon 4.0 Allied Force. Realism doesn't always make things harder.

But I'll be using a joystick either way, although it's a pain to configure.

lol, totally NOT true, I get top scores pretty much every time I man the fighters and I use mouse and keyboard exclusively.

Matter of what feels best. I have played with both but prefer the feel of the joystick...omg, that didn't sound right.
