Topic: Respawn times...

Project Reality has really long respawn times. The result is that people hang on to their lives, instead of going kamikaze. Space battle's lack that feeling of "I gotta stay alive", so maybe the respawn times should be lengthened? It would encourage teamwork, team mates getting the enemy off your tail and all that stuff.

On the other hand the long respawn times can be frustrating and not very noob friendly.

What's your opinion? Let the discussion begin.

Edit: What's wrong with you guys? I only said respawn times should be longer, nothing else. I didn't say blasters should be stronger or so anywhere. Jeez, next time try reading!
The respawn times should be longer to make sure people act less suicidal. Tell me one scene in a star wars movie where someone deliberately runs into a bunch of people only to get shot or where a guy fearlessly crashes his fighter into something on purpose. No, they never did such things. Not even the A-wing pilot crashing into the Executor did it on purpose.
They try to stay alive. This can be enforced by lengthening the respawn times. If you don't want to die, you start doing teamwork, you start communicating. People in FS don't do this, they run into the other guy's blaster and they crash their fighters right into the enemy ships JUST TO RESPAWN! The battles would be more intense, people would still be firing around, hell, they'd be much more like in the movies.

That is an interesting idea, but if runing a 2142 server is anything like running a BF2 server (I used to run one)  the spawn times are controlled by the server admins, not the game, or the mod.
So to get longer spawn times, you need to convince a server admin to do it.

Nope, the minimum spawn time you can set is way higher in PR, so they can do it in FS too.

Well Project Reality wants to make people hang on their lives because thats what you would do in real life. And thats where the game aims, to make it as real as possible. But here that's not the main goal, although this is to be made "as lore as possible" smile So here I think people have many opinions on this matter.
Personally I like as it is. But then again, I'm always very careful guy no matter what the delay is. That could effect the balance either in positive or negative way, but these things are for server admins to decide. It could be nice to try variations.

Love it in Project Reality and would love to see 1 good laser blast through the chest making a kill(as in the movies:) ), instead of 4 shots in the body and 3 in the head to get the job done wink
still think it is just whishfull thinking but a Project Reality version of First Strike would be nothing less then Perfection
