The sprint button is boost on Rebel Starfighters.

And again, they seem slow because you have no static objects to compare them to...not to mention the maps can only be like 15km by 15km...or something...

If you compare your fighter's speed to the size of the star destroyer, you'll notice it's pretty damn fast.

Remember, star destroyers are HUGE

In just the last few days people have really improved regarding flying. If you think the battles are too slow and you don't have hair raising fly bys then you're on the wrong server!

If anything it's getting tougher to score a quick kill because people are evading far better than they did just a few days ago. mad

I'm hearing a sound when the "ion missiles" (we'll call them that) zing by, but not when regular lasers are fired. This would give those dogfights that extra tingle when you hear those things zipping past you.

Actuallly, this point has been brought up countless times, but you are right. The craft are much slower than their film counterparts (try zooming by a few stationary frigates and transports at max speed with boost). But like it's been said before, there are several factors as to why. Hit detection would be a major problem with the game's engine (it's already quite dificult), map size and serious lag are a few heavy hitters.

Interesting. As for the zzing for regular lasers I am not hearing them. I have a creative x-fi set at ultra high quality, with EAX on...

confirm as bug?

I would disagree on the map size being a problem... the space maps are HUGE

Main reason why it seems slow is because there is nothing to compare you speed against. aka no asteroids or ships usually near you.

I can assure you if you made a asteroid field space map it would be intense.

dogfights are already crazy enough. With like 10 fighters on each side it can seem even faster.
