I dunno really, it has a recharge time so you can't just spam shields.

first i think alt fire is bottom shield, since i was flying by a lancer the other day and holding the primary key (holding or just pressing when i saw the big lasers incoming) protected me form any damage i would have taken by the lancers guns, i made it past him turned around slowly and then used my bottom shields big_smile

1 second per shot, for a total of 30 seconds per side.  Fire is top side while altfire is bottom.  Shields are not fully invulnerable, but do make you a lot tougher.  That said heavy fire can occasionally get through regardless, especially from the heavy guns.  (using shields against them usually buys you about 2 volleys if you had full healthe.  But that's not enough to stop em killing you though if they lock on early enough)

i tested this out last night on a empty server and the shields go down if you hold it on!
so even if it last for 1 sec.....your still wasting your shield by holding it on if it only effective for a second?????????
i think treail and error is the best method there untill the patches come out and fixess everything up again.
