Topic: Major problem! Potentially lethal to your hard drive!
Yes yes, we all know that when you get a lock-up, its not the end of the world; you go, "sigh, well, ctrl+alt+del dude. Ah! Look! I exited the game and I didnt even break a sweat!" But thats what I call a "passive lock-up".
The next level is the "Harrassment Lock-Up". You get this and you go, "damn...hmm...sound is looping....everything has locked up...ctrl+alt+del...Hey! You can see my cursor that belongs to windows, but not this program. *waits for a couple minutes* There we go, task manager. End task! Wait a few more minutes...Yay! I can continue with life!". This lock-up is annoying, because you either get looping sounds or no sound at all. You ctrl+alt+del but it takes a while, but nonetheless you are triumphant over the unresponding program! Even though it may take more time and effort.
Now...this is what I call the "Lethal Lock-Up". As we all know, turning off our pc, without shutting it down properly, can be potentially harmful to our precious hard drive...or even worse...it can be lethal. Now, what makes the "lethal lock-up" lethal? Well...I came across this lock-up grimling while playing First Strike. What it does is this...completely locks-up with or without looping sounds. You can do anything, and I mean NOTHING AT ALL! Ctrl+alt+del is futile! Alt+Tab is futile! Alt+F4 is pitiful! Ctrl+Esc is dismissable! The only thing you can do...is go with your final resort...shutting off your pc abruplty without proper shut down.
Every time you do this, it increases your chances of a hard drive failure...I have learned from my mistakes a coupe years back. Now why do I bring this up? Its because there is a 35% chance (Thats just a shot in the dark, but an educated guess though) of your pc experiencing a "Lethal Lock-Up" while playing First Strike.
This happens pretty much randomly in game; on loading screen, when you click deploy, when you spawn, or even out of no where when you think everything is fine and dandy! The thing is...this bug or glitch could be potentially deadly to our pcs. I hate turning off my pc like that, and I wish to not do it.
Is this a bug, glitch, or engine error? But, all-in-all, it needs to be fixed.
Can you fix this?
