They don't care about being sneaky.  Nobody who builds AT-ATs, Star Destroyers and Death Stars could not care less about stealth. wink

Then why did they make the TIE Phantom? tongue

Surely the Empire values Camo in certain situations.

sure, it shows their presence to impose their authority and control the populations. But what it are going to do on a back basis? subjected by the obscure influence on the side of the force, with no population, or where it have only troopers there which kill the others troopers...

in addition, it are on an island, in the jungle. The arranged battailles, with the vehicles of infantrie heavy, do not function on this type of ground.

Re: Rakata_Prime

I'll be honest, the camo is smurfing ugly.  That said, the map looks awesome and I can't wait to play it.

And yet, they send a floating black reconnaissance droid to an ice planet... lol

<sigh> I'm not talking about EU carp. When talking about theme and feel of the Star Wars universe, really all you can do is go by the films (ok, and novelizations and radio scripts of the original stories (i.e.: what's in the films (a.k.a. accepted canon (on an unrelated note, don't you just love rested parentheses?)))). tongue

In a discussion about what would make a good tank, are you going to ask me: "Why did they make the TIE Crawler?" roll

Of course the Empire uses camo/stealth in certain situations. Much of the time it would be used by intelligence, rather than the standard military.  I'm not saying camouflage isn't/shouldn't be used at all, especially by scouts.

That said, I think this camouflage is a bit too jarring.  Granted, many earth-based navies have experimented in painting their destroyers like the Partridge Family's bus, and it worked. But, either they dropped it because it made their own sailors woozy, or maybe it worked too well, and the ships are still out there, and we can't find 'em... wink

Edit: See here for a pic of the Partridge Family with their bus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partridge_Family

Today's spelling/grammar tip: There = a (sometimes conceptual) place. "There is my car." or "There is such a thing as magic."  // Their = posessive. "Their meat is full of worms." // They're = contraction of <they are>. "They're crazy!" // "They're trying to put their shoes up there."
