Re: Fighting the probot

Au contraire - if the droid is made weaker, people won't use it for combat. That's a key distinction - Probe Droids are not (unless I'm seriously wrong on my lore, which I might be) intended to be used in battle - they're intended to scout, and they have weapons primarily for self-defense. In the context of the game, we wouldn't have people spawning en masse at the base and rushing for the droid launcher - instead, a squad member would grab it and help out his squad, or what not.
This is the same argument for having Medics and Support characters. Their guns are weaker than a standard Trooper weapon, so why would anyone play them? To help out their squad, of course. Same with the Probe Droid - it should support the team by scanning the area, not by anhiliating Rebel squads.
At least, that's my (not so) humble opinion.

Re: Fighting the probot

I agree 100% with Texor. The probot would work like the Officer class - not much in the way of offensive powers, but very useful nonetheless. Heck, the R2 in GC could do nothing besides drive around repairing vehicles, and the mouse droid on the ISD Judicator couldn't even do that, it just made some weird sounds and blew itself up if forced to drive through too many doorways. Both were very popular regardless.

I'm not against droids being used for combat purposes, I just don't want probots to take that role. So give the tihng weaker armour, a weaker gun, a better scanner, and a zoom function, and it'll be one awesome scout.

Glad you only have to face one of those probe droid one at a time.

I couldn't agree more.

Maybe that, and make it respawnable. That way you could use it more than once, but it wouldn't be like a hovering AT-ST.

It does respawn, much to the grievance of its Rebel victims.
