Imo, you should be able to get out of fighters, but ONLY when they are landed. You do see people using fighters to get around and land in ships, etc, but it really wouldn't help to jump out in mid-space because, duh, you don't have a space suit, and you would just run out of air and die. Would it be possible to make it impossible to get out of a fighter unless you are landed? >.<

Maybe you should only be able to get out if your docked in your own ship.

It's not very simple to code, if it's even possible.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

Pilots should be able to get out but they would still only be in pilot kits with only a pistol, knife and repair stick.   They could then go pick up kits/weapons from enemys other people have killed or fallen comrads, but untill then would only be a pilot.

Pickup kits won't be in the mod, no way, no how sad . So if you disembarked on an enemy ship, you'd be pretty much useless for anything other than gun fodder as the only weapons you had would be a knife and pistol.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

No, I havent played FH or FH2.  But ya know what, those games have people playing them and you can get out of vehicles in them :-P   Same with Vanilla :-P

People don't like to be confined to anything.

And going lone wolf is still very effecent in FS.  When I used to play I remember plenty of times of going behind enemy lines while all the groups were fighting and getting no where and turning the sides of the battle.    Killing 5-10 people along the way :-P

Red Barrons and Commandos will always exist in games, when you activly try to prevent people from doing what they want to do tho... you start to reduce the number of people who play your game and end up in the dieing situation the mod is in now, with only 20-50 active players.

Just another reason for the devs to implement a '2-3 to capture' system akin to FH2's for control points in Push maps.

If you're talking about the WWI ace, the Red Baron was the leader of a squadron of planes, not a lone wolf.

Depends. The Lone Wolves may very well leave, but then again, you'll have newcomers brought on board who are attracted to promises of teamwork and co-ordinated gameplay.

and end up in the dieing situation the mod is in now, with only 20-50 active players.

Look, I really dislike it when people pull 'do this or the mod will die' or similar statements. Please stop it already.

But ya know what, those games have people playing them

So do Project Reality, Armed Assault and Red Orchestra. PR does a lot of restricting and 'herding' of players ingame (only pilots may fly planes and only crewmen may drive armoured vehicles, and most of the kits are limited based on a whoe slew of factors on which I'm sure Ty would be happy to elaborate) and it's immensely popular.

I would consider 1.2 dying if there were no more releases coming. However, with a new release on the way with more maps, vehicles, and other goodies... I don't. In fact, I'm positively surprised by how faithful FS' players are being when they could've packed it and left an eternity ago.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

Back in December, nobody played.  Now we have people playing every weekend.  At least now we have a player base.  Once there are more maps I guarantee you that our player base will improve tremendously.  1.2 will be a more important patch than you think.

Re: Exiting Capital Ships

Yup. Trust me when I say the developers have some surprises up their sleeves. 1.2 will be awesome, and pull in a lot of players cool .

Oh, and another note on committing suicide in space maps: I believe some ships still have this bug that prevents anyone else from spawning on them if you kill yourself in them. So if you, say, get in a freighter in Escape from Hoth and decide that helping your team win by getting the ship past that Star Destroyer is too boring and that you'd rather fly an X-Wing now, you may just render the freighter useless and lose the game for your team if you off yourself.

So please, if you spawn on a ship, make use of it and stay in the fight. If you absolutely have to do something else, hit Esc to quit the server, then disconnect and rejoin. As far as I know, that may not cause the ship to become off-limits to everybody else. I need to test that one with Ty.
