Re: Clone Wars TV Series

All those clips at the end makes it look so much better than it actually is...

Some episodes are truly good, I give them that but theres a lot of meh in this series which kinda pulls it below the surface, rather than keeping it floating. I'd say cut at least 50% of all those Padme/Jar Jar episodes and its starting to seem interesting again, introduce more episodes that encircle around clones (ala Rookies) and have Grievous actually slaughtering Jedi's and thats all I'd need.  tongue

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

I would love to see a little more realism battle wise. Not like super realistic, but now its  like two armies standing in a field with no cover and each side managing to not hit the other. Earlier on the seemed to have it better where clones would run to take cover and in that respect itself show how they are different then droid because you see them try to stay alive.

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Looks like there is a week break over in the U.S. and that the next episode airs next week, here is the preview material.

http://www.starwars.com/explore/the-clone-wars/ep407/

Looks like it is going to be a good one, an extended arc, so a more involved story, more interesting foes than droids in the form of the Umbarans, and more clone battle action than you can handle. Also if you check out the gallery you'll see their concept work for a Headhunter starfighter. Have to say I hate what they've done with it, looks pretty ropey, especially when you compare it with this....

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Darkness on Umbara

This post contains spoilers!

In my honest opinion this is the best episode thus far in this season. I waited for some proper clone action and now we've got it. Especially like it how the phase 2 troopers are finally given some good screentime. Not to mention its very freshing to see non-droid Confederate troops up against the Republic. Some scenes reminded me of all those vietnam war movies... you know what I mean once you see *that* scene...  tongue Now to think of it, this episode is nothing but full of different well-known war movie scenes. I mean stuff that happens in like every second war movie the same way and so on. smile

During the slight retreat we can see the AT-RT driver(s) waving their blasters in their hands and firing behind them. Wouldnt it be easier to cover your retreat by reversing with the walker and using the main gun instead of having limited vision of enemy whereabouts and worse possibility to hit anything (worse than in this series in general...)? Nitpicking aside...

This new Jedi master who came down to boss Rex and his men, I like him. He shows that he doesnt give a toss about what you think and he makes it very clear he is in charge. I also like it how he is obviously playing against all Jedi rules (killing for offense, not for defense). He addresses the clones with their proper names, not nicknames, which naturally causes friction amongst the men he leads. Altho I like a strict and powerful leadership, this guy doesnt give the clones any slack. Not to mention he loves direct assaults into enemy positions, russian style human waves. Screw tactics when you got an amble supply of men who were manufactured only for this purpose, to be disposable.

I can see the clones accompanying him being veeeeery happy once the order 66 is issued.  big_smile

So the clones get ambushed. So... what...?! The ambushers cant hit a barn wall anyway so the clones are perfectly safe.

Anyway, it was a thrilling episode. I can honestly say I enjoyed this and I am looking forward to next episode. smile

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

I liked it, and they improved on my wish for battles, they used a lot more cover and they actually killed some guys!

Re: Clone Wars TV Series

Darkness on Umbara

Belting episode this, a much more Clone-centric episode, and the start of what looks like it is going to be a most interesting story arc. In the opening sorties of a battle to take the World of Umbara, Skywalker is called away back to Coruscant on orders of the Supreme Chancellor, forcing him to leave Captain Rex and his men under the command of another Jedi General, a renowned and powerful warrior of the same race as Dexter Jexster from Episode II. Turns out the guy is a bit of a stickler for the rules, and a bit of a chicken to be honest, he has little regard for the lives of the clones, and instead of well thought out tactics just throws troops at the enemy like so much cannon fodder, bringing to mind the Generals of WWI, sending troops over the top. This obviously causes friction as Rex has to balance being a good soldier and following orders, with having common sense and knowing from experience that this new Jedi General's orders will get them all killed. Lots of good alegory and subtext to play with here, from the mentioned balacing act of being a good soldier to the Jedi having a predudice attitude towards the Clones. The design of the episode is great with the shadowy world giving us a greatly moody setting, and the Umbarans deploying an interesting array of weapons, one artillery piece bringing to mind the plasma spewing bugs from Starship Troopers. this is definitely the Clone Wars I signed up for.
